Staying Ahead Of The Curve By Starting At The Beginning

Talking from my own personal experience in working with our clients we have come across some pretty interesting stuff.

People come to us with emails that are nothing more then full image creatives.  What to know something crazy?  From our stats of sending millions of emails a month we only see about 72% of web and desktop clients that actually have images enabled.

So the only thing people see is a box..  uh ya…

We also see a huge increase in unsubscribe rates and spam complaints from mostly image emails.

Also this whole thing with putting peoples names dynamically in subject lines…  Yes it will lead to more opens…  but it actually,  from my experience,  decreases conversion rates.

But these are all cutting edge techniques right?  This is what your mail provider or email consultant told you to do…

The truth is we see the highest conversions from emails that…..   look like emails.

How in the world have people gotten to the point they think they have totally screwed up their email marketing campaigns.

In your email campaign you should talk to people like you were sitting down with them.  Tell them why you started your company,  why your product is different then your competition,  and then after you have built a relationship with them… you can sell them stuff.

Now obviously there is a art to doing that.

One of the things that truly separates the PAR Program from any other mail platform is that I actually use it daily to sell my own e-commerce products.  Sure we also have the greatest deliverability and cutting edge features that nobody else has but the one thing we bring to the table is me and my 11 years experience selling over 10 million dollars in my own and other people’s products through email.

But I am sure your email provider not only does that but writes all the copy FOR YOU.  Right ?  =P.

But enough about our amazing platform and unparalleled service (sorry I can’t help it).

So here are my biggest tips:

  • Talk to people like they were to come into your store.
  • Don’t try to FOOL your customers into opening your emails by putting their name in or having misleading subject lines.
  • Make it super super simple for people to unsubscribe.
  • Dont use large images in your emails.  Actually we see the biggest success with emails that have no images at all…
  • Your marketing emails need to come from a REAL person at the company
  • Your marketing emails need to have a REAL signature

Anyway…  Just email people like you would email anyone.  Quit sending dumb images.

Stop trying to be “cutting edge” and keep it simple stupid.
