Moniker Domain Hosting Provider Hacked – User accounts compromised Posted: 20 Jun 2013 06:51 AM PDT I started hearing rumblings around the internet last night that one of the leading domain providers Moniker had been hacked and usernames and passwords were compromised. I tried to reach out to them… mostly cause I have most of my domain portfolio there. Never got anything back. Still haven’t gotten any response but that would make sense cause this now appears to be true:
Not that you were…. but if you are using the same login to moniker as other services go and change those right now. If people have comprimised monikers database of user names/passwords then they are going to try them on every possible service. I have to say this email from Moniker was a bit weird looking in that it came from a one name company name, no domain certificate, a generic reply/from email address, AND it didn’t even come from a moniker registered mail server. So even though this appears to be 100% legit Gmail is telling me that it might not have came from Moniker. They might want to look into using a enterprise level email service like *cough* Par Program *cough* |
