Google’s Patents and why people shouldn’t freak out Posted: 05 Nov 2013 10:36 AM PST As we are going through filing various patents for our PAR Program its interesting to see that it takes many years before you even get any sort of response… then you have to make revisions and what not. I remember back in the day when Google would file a search patent (or be granted one) that would cover various ways they would rank a site based on certain criteria. I understand why these make such big news because its really the only thing that SEO’s can point to on “how they know” what Google is doing. But the real fact is that granted patents were applied for 4-6 years before they were approved… So who who knows whether Google thought it was a good idea but didn’t really have any intent of actually implementing it.. OR if its something they did implement at one time many years ago but has been drastically changed or deprecated. |
